But then it hit me.
And it really hurt cause it was a metal door.
But that's besides the point.
What's the one thing that everyone says they lack? The one thing that everyone needs but doesn't have? What could it possibly be besides...
SLEEP!!
(So cute! You're welcome!)
But losing sleep is hardly something that could be considered "cute". I just read through a couple articles from this website about sleep deprivation and with all the statistics that they were throwing out, I have concluded that we are going to die and that schools are running child labor camps to try and slim down the teen population. Seriously though, I'm worried for my teen even though I don't have one.
I'm not gonna lie, the articles from that website all seemed focused on bashing the schools for too much homework, early start times, and stress. I mean, yeah I agree but it's kinda just how school is, you know? (Not really the homework or stress part, I was not staying up till 12 am in first grade. I mean, I hope I wasn't.)
And not all teachers are meanies who give too much homework. In fact, Mrs. Kopp (our wonderful English teacher) almost made me cry (tears of relief) on the first day of school when she said she tries to make her class low-stress. That honestly means so much to me, even more so considering that it's still Honors English. (Thank you so much! :'D)
Personally, I take a while to do homework, same with my older sister, so we stay up till 12 am (although she's been staying up to 1:30 am more often then not...). We are both in STEM, she's taking 5 AP classes (counting the actual STEM class) so we may have more work than some people. But I mean 8 hours of homework a night (one hour off for eating) is literally one third of an entire day and if you include school hours (~7) it's almost two thirds of an entire day!! And that doesn't even include the time for me to get ready for school. That leaves me with one third of a day for myself! What the heck, man??
And guess what I'm gonna do with that one third, sleep!
(I know this is crazy but my mom can vouch for me, I don't have time to chill out on the weekdays so I never really use my phone for stuff other than texting people about school work. What even is a social life? So it's not like I'm purposely staying up or losing sleep for fun.)
Teens need 8-10 hours of sleep a day (according to sleepfoundation.org, yes it's a real thing) and I don't even have to do a study to know few get it all cause I literally see people nod off in class due to lack of sleep. Oh, and remember what we learned about drinking and driving? Well if you sleep when tired (like my sister) it's almost as if you're driving while drunk. And she's not that good of a driver to start off with either. (I must also admit that I am a hazard on the road, not gonna lie I'm a horrendous driver. Mario Kart did not train me well enough.)
I could go on and on but I honestly don't wanna learn more about how I'm killing myself. I think, instead, I will take a nap.
Good night everyone!
This was funny, informative and I can somewhat relate.

ReplyDeleteThis is 1,000% correct
ReplyDeleteIf there is one thing I love more than food, it's sleep. If I could sleep for an entire day, I honestly would (I think I have..).
ReplyDeleteThank you :')
ReplyDeleteAnyone taking Honors or AP classes can definitely sympathize. Love the pictures!
