Carissa Song interview By Lukas Hein

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to interview my classmate Carissa Song. Who ever knew that I could learn so much about someone in such a short amount of time, just like I was able to do with Julia in the beginning of the year when we carried out our first interviews.

Living her entire life in Sparta, Carissa has a very fun filled and busy life. Whether it's working two jobs, playing multiple sports, or just being with friends, she always finds a way to keep herself busy. So far, Song's high school experience has been good, and even though it's a lot of work, it's also fun, and you just have to stop and remember to enjoy it. School has allowed for her to learn how to work with people, and be patient when things aren't working in her favor. In a few years, Carissa hopes to attend UCLA, the med school where she wants to train in psychiatry. She'd also love to live out in California, especially around the LA or beach area. Carissa loves California because of it's vibe, and warm community.

An Interview With My Future Self by Chloe Clancy

I've always dreamed about being able to time travel. The thought of it absolutely excites me, and I've always wanted to meet my future self. In thought of that, I've decided to time travel (to the best of my ability) and ask myself a couple of questions. I hope that the advice I gave myself is valuable and I follow it throughout my lifetime.

December 24th, 2018 to December 24th, 2033

Chloe: So, can you tell me a little bit about yourself- uh, myself? 

Future Chloe: Well, right now I currently live in San Francisco, working as a clinical psychologist. I graduated from NYU, and Sparta High School. 

C: Nice, good to see that I graduated. Are you happy with what you're currently doing?

FC: Unrealistically I've always pictured myself working in the music and movie industry designing sets for films and music videos, however I still find my current occupation enjoyable. 

C: Interesting. Reflecting back on your childhood, what's one thing you wish you knew in high school? 

FC: Definitely to focus on what matters to me, not other people. I feel like I always was getting distracted with something that, in reality, I didn't care about. It's my life, and I'm not going to let the opinions of others control. 

C: Good advice, I'll try to follow it. What about failure? How important was failure in order to get where you are now? 

FC: Very important, failure taught me many things like how to stay motivated, how to accept defeat, and how to succeed. I've definitely failed many times in my lifetime, whether it be turning in an assignment late, or crashing my car, but I learn from my mistakes and they only make me a better person. 

C: Wait, I crash my car? 

FC: Yeah, just so you know, we did have the right of way. 

C: Oh, okay. Back to the interview, last question. How much am I overthinking things right now, like my future? Do I need to stop worrying or should I be concerned about my life in 15 years? 

FC: Stop worrying! No level of anxiety can change the future. As long as you have an idea of how you want to live your life, you will be fine. Just make sure to find your passion. After that, just stay on top of your work, and coast along. 

C: Very cool, thank you.
