Samsung Galaxy Fold phone BY: KELLY ZUKOWSKI

The Samsung Galaxy Fold phone would be amazing to have, but as of right now it is not looking too good. Many YouTubers, journalists, news sources and regular people that have pre-ordered the phone say that the Samsung Galaxy Fold phone encounters many problems. For example, there is a layer of adhesive that looks like a screen saver of the phone, but it turned out to be a very critical component of the screen and if taken off would destroy the whole entire phone. One can imagine, that many people took off what looked like the screen saver, to only find that the phone stopped working. However, even with people not taking off the protective layer, bubbles would build underneath it, or it would get stuck in the middle. Therefore, causing a similar effect as taking off the whole thing. Let it also be clear that the phone is not dust resistant or water resistant.

People who have purchased the phone love the concept, how it works and would recommend it if the phone was not so susceptible to breaking. It is also not cheap, costing nearly $2,000! Samsung still plans to release the phone to the public on April 26 and has insisted before that the phone could stand 200,000 folds. However, others would claim that it cannot stand one day of use.

That being said, let us pretend that the phone is completely usable, the screen won’t fail on you, and Samsung fixes the issue. Then the phone would be very cool to use. For example, one can have three apps open at a time. Picture this: watching YouTube, texting a friend, and doing homework at the same time. That is a dream come true for people that usually multi-tasks a lot of things. Furthermore, the phone has six cameras. SIX! The rear cameras are the best by having a 12-megapixel main camera, 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. Perfect to take pictures of life’s most precious moments. It can also hold up to 512 GB of storage (not expandable, but it would take a lot of years to fill up a phone to 512 GB)(RAM is 12 GB). The battery is also really good, containing a 4,380 mAh dual battery which should allow 7-8 hours of screen time. In addition, it has special features like fast charging and wireless charging. Now I would prefer the phone to have a headphone jack, but for some reason, phone companies decided that was not needed (cue my internal rage).

Therefore, by my observation, there are three main factors that make this phone not so great. The price, the no headphone jack (which is becoming the norm of phones), and how easily it breaks (the major problem).

  1. Bruh.... 2,000 dollars for a phone is insane. For some people that's more than their rent!
