Earlier this week, Full House' s own Lori Loughlin was arrested Wednesday morning while in the process of filming a movie in Canada. She was arrested for allegedly bribing coaches at prestigious universities such as Yale and the University of South Carolina for her daughter to be identified as an athletic recruit. However, the madness did not stop here. In fact, Loughlin used her wealth to fake her child's SAT and ACT scores to enhance their chances of getting into said schools. Loughlin was not alone in her scandal. In fact, many others, including another well-known actress Felicity Huffman, have bribed coaches and attempted to fake their children's SAT scores.
This is enraging the public including both adults and young adults alike, considering these celebrities used wealth to easily put their children above the laws that others must abide by. What is worse, however, is the derogatory message sent to the children involved in the scandal. First of all, their parents are essentially creating an unrealistic world for them where they receive privileges they do not earn. Secondly, this sends the message to their children that their parents feel they are not good enough.
On top of all of this, Loughlin's daughter may be facing expulsion from her school due to the scandal. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done to the innocent bystanders in the situation: students who attained the proper SAT and ACT scores and really did play sports that would help them be accepted into USC were rejected. They were rejected at the hands of families like the Loughlins, who used wealth and privilege to buy their way into these prestigious schools. It is truly astonishing that parents like these lack any sort of moral compass.

I'm glad you wrote about this because it's so shocking to me! Unbelievable! I saw that her daughter has said repeatedly on her youtube channel that she is only there for the parties and doesn't care about school.
ReplyDeleteThis is crazy and I can't believe it's happening in some of the top schools.
