What has importance to me? By: Nick Murray

Family.
Family is something that everyone in this world has. Everyone has a different outlook on it, however, in the end, our family is the closest people that we have in this world. Without your mom or dad, you wouldn't be born, and if you have siblings, without them, you wouldn't be who you are today. Your family is extremely lucky to have you! Your family and yourself have won the lottery of life. See, when you are being conceived there are about 250 million sperm cells trying to reach your mother's egg cell. By being born, your basically the luckiest person ever! Well, not if everyone else has been born, but you get the point. A family is so special because those 2-5+ people in your family will be there for you your entire life, helping you along the way.

Sports.
Image result for sportsSports by definition is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. (So this ties into activities a little bit). While playing and participating in sports, kids, teenagers, and basically anyone will discover friendship and comradery. Some of the best people you will ever meet will be in sports (assuming you partake in them). Sports help kids develop social skills while maintaining a competitive nature that, in my opinion, is extremely beneficial for them. Sports can also teach kids about support systems. For instance, when someone strikes out in baseball, their teammates lift them back up so that the person who struck out doesn't feel horrible. That same support system is viable in real life like when kids do bad on a test, they can be there for each other to help.

Activities fall under sports, however, it is fundamentally different. Activity is a synonym for hobbies, and hobbies are what makes us happy in our free time. Video games are the most popular hobbies for teenagers, especially the satisfying feeling when killing someone, or beating a game. These feelings are what drive people to grind video games. Knitting, writing, cooking, gardening, painting, and photography are some of the many hobbies people choose to do. Hobbies fill the gap of time in our lives that is not filled with hectic jobs, school work, tests, and other daily tasks that we all must endure.
