Your Fate, Not Mine By: Luke Simmons

I spy your ship sailing on the stormy seas
From my perspective your just a pod full of peas
Your mast steadfast amidst the waves
The crew scurrying about as their leader raves

Your presence grows nearer like an approaching storm
As I see you peering upon my land form
Though you cannot see me as I'm high in the trees
That may be for the best as I'd make you topple to your knees

I glance to my comrades as I swivel my head
All of our voices raising to fill you with dread
After much fear for the first few seconds
To the island you near as our horrid song beckons

We continue to sing you praises and cheer
To make you believe everything that you hear
And a smile makes its way across my face
As I see the leader ordering the shipmate to make haste

Yet there is always that one who is smart as a fiddle
Who stuffed his ears with wax to solve our entrancing riddle
He tried to alert the others of the troubles at hand
Yet they ignored him as if their heads were in the sand

I saw panic rise upon the mans face
As he stared at us fates perched up in our base
I saw the hope start to drain from his eyes
As he saw us crawling out from our tree disguise

And as you get close enough so I can see the metal ship shine
I'd like to remind you this is your fate, not mine
