Defining New Years by Reagan Rech

A magnificent time of the year where people have the power to change for the better

I know exactly what New Years means to me

But that’s not really it

Some say all you’re celebrating is time,
Well that's absolutely correct
You think you're going to change?
Follow through with your resolutions,
It won't happen
You think your goals will slip away from you
They will
You think your dreams will be achieved this year,

But that's not what I think

New Years is a time for people to make goals that no one actually follows through on

Don’t try and tell me that that’s not so

My mom always says it’s a time to celebrate all your growth and change in one year

It’s not,

It’s just a celebration of the inevitable marching of time leading us all to our doom

So don’t try to convince me that

New Years is a beautiful thing
