I've been scavenging through the blog posts people have posted within the past few days in hopes of ideas. I mean what could we have NOT written at this point? So, the common denominator seems to be the evolution of our high school careers as we are now continuing into junior year. Yikes...
SATs, ACTs, and whatever other standardized tests could possibly exist. Triple the AP classes, triple the stress. And worst of all, COLLEGE! Planning for college officially begins! My parents and I started beginning of my freshmen year so I could play soccer in college, but approaching junior year just makes it so much more real. We'll only be 17 and choosing the right college is the most adult thing that most of us have ever done in our entire lives. So here we are, these mini adults making our way in the world.
Then two years from now, we will be the seniors graduating, packing our bags, saying our goodbyes, and preparing for our final summer before college. The last time we'll see the teachers that raised us since we were dinky 14 year old freshmen into the legal adults stepping up to spread our wings and fly. Most of us will be in a whole new state, a whole new environment, and know absolutely no one. Those of us who had the luxury of having a bedroom to ourselves our first 18 years of life on this planet will now be thrown into a master bedroom closet sized dorm that we have to share with a complete stranger... Maybe they'll be nice, maybe they'll avoid us, or maybe they'll be Satan's incarnate on Earth (who knows, but we're stuck with them for the next four years).
But as of now I am still a sophomore, I still have time. And yet I also know that those two years are going to pass me by quicker than I ever could have imagined and the home I've built with the friends I have made will only exist in my memories. Until then, let's hold onto the small amount of time we have left together because never again are we gonna be 16 again.
Enjoy every moment!
