You regain consciousness, stranded on a frigid glacier. Your memory is hazy and you aren't exactly sure how you got here. In front of you stands a funny, little, one-eyed robot, who upon seeing you awake exclaims, "Wait a minute. You're not dead!" Afterwards he introduces himself as a CL4P-TP steward bot, or Claptrap for short. Your memories start to return to you. You are a Vault Hunter. You live on the planet Pandora, and just like the box, this planet is filled with all evil, but mostly violence, bloodshed, and insanity. Bandits inhabit every inch of the land, but they are far from being your biggest problem. The Hyperion Corporation, owned by Handsome Jack, put out an ad looking for Vault Hunters. Upon meeting on the train, like the ad said, the Vault Hunters were led into a trap and blown up, literally eliminating the competition. As for the Vault itself, no one really knows what is stored inside. It was long thought to be an alien cache of powerful weapons and such, but that is just pure speculation. Anyway, back to the present. The little robot lays out his plan for you, pretty much stating how he was waiting for someone, like you, to assist him in reaching Sanctuary, a town with considerably less bloodshed and violence stored within. The Crimson Raiders also reside here, the last bastion of the resistance against Handsome Jack, and seeing as you were just blown out of a train at his hand, you would like a little revenge. And so begins your epic tale of loot, violence, and becoming the most badass outlaw on Pandora.
