What is important to me? By Jamie Rubin

Before I began writing this, I was sitting in my history class, that had turned into a study hall because the teacher was absent, with my head down thinking about what is important to me. Lots of things are important to me. My grades... my family...fixing global warming... but overall, I think the most important thing to me is my happiness. There are many factors contribute to my happiness but more than anything, it is my friends. My friends are very important to me because they are always there for me, they make me laugh endlessly, and they make my everyday life infinitely better

Without my friends, going to school would be dreadful and every day would simply be boring. My friends are incredible because they have the ability to turn dreaded Monday mornings into something I look forward to because I get to see them right away when I arrive at school. Every moment spent with them is a blast!

When I am having a bad day, they can cheer me up without even trying. Their sense of humor can make me crack up hysterically laughing and make my mood switch a whole 180 degrees. Not to mention, the girls. Girls have something I like to call a "depression detector" that enables them to instantly detect when one of their friends is upset. For example, one day I was feeling pretty down in the dumps. The second I arrived at our lunch table and sat down, I kid you not, five of my friends instantly asked, "Are you ok? What's wrong? Who do we have to beat up?"

One of the most amazing qualities of my friend group is that they will hype you up for everything.
New Instagram post? Within a minute there are at least 20 different comments along the lines of "omg how are you so gorgeous" or "ahhhh!! literally stunning! I love you so much". Looking especially good at school one day? Perhaps wearing a new outfit? It's impossible to make it to our table in the cafeteria without some jaws dropping and at least 3 girls letting you know how good you look. It's honestly kind of amazing.

Simply put, my friends are some of the most incredible people I have ever met and I love them all so much. Without a doubt, they are one of the most important things to me.
