Responding to a Prompt By Liv Canova

On the day before Winter break, we responded to prompts and I really liked one of my responses. So I'll be using that for this month's blog post because I have no other original ideas.

The prompt: Use a line from your favorite song as the first line of whatever you're writing

Foreword: I don't know if this is my favorite song (called Lets Be Still), but it's really nice and if you want to listen to it, here's a Youtube link-- https://youtu.be/n74SOgFaOmk

Just for a moment, let's be still. The stars in the sky will watch over us while we lay in the field. Let's remember this second because life is fleeting and nights don't last forever. Let's be still, standing on the stage and singing while the lights blind me and my dress is too long. Let's be still, holding on to 1 hour until my mom picks me up and I need to leave my milkshake and my friends and the sweet potato fries I stole from another table. Let's be still, sitting on my bed with my friend and watching Legally Blonde before we have to go and perform. Let's be still, as one half of the dining hall jumps up and down and grabs the huge silver cup while the other half holds back tears. Let's be still, sneaking out of a party and walking around the block with someone else, while its cold but we don't care.
Let's be still because nights don't last a lifetime.

  1. Is that a photo from County Choir? Also, stealing the fries from the next table is very relatable.
