Recently I interviewed my classmate, Lukas Hein. I learned a lot about him, just as I learned a lot about Sarah and Maura during our interviews at the beginning of the school year.
Lukas plays football and lacrosse. When asked which sport is more meaningful to him, he said lacrosse because it's a year-round sport and he feels it gives him a better chance at getting recruited for college. Lukas wants to go to either Virginia Tech for college, because it's "just amazing," or somewhere in Philadelphia, because it's a lively city with many opportunities. When asked how his school year has gone, Lukas replied that it's been pretty difficult and a lot to handle, but is worth it because it gives him experience and knowledge he'll need for the rest of his life. One problem he encountered was figuring out how to best manage his time with both his workload from school and football practices weighing on him. However, Lukas said the skill he learned of managing time and prioritizing schoolwork will come to serve him beyond high school. He is excited to leave Sparta, and the whole state of New Jersey, so that he can be in an exciting city like Philadelphia, or by the beach in Maryland or Virginia.
