Creative Writing and Writing Prompts
In class before break, we used writing prompts to inspire the creative side of our writing. So, I decided to do the same and use a few prompts to write. Here are some of the prompts:- Imagine being lost somewhere unfamiliar-
The snap of branches beneath my feet, the smell of fear in the air. My heart races as I launch myself over a fallen tree. Trying to search for my cousins in the woods was not easy, not to mention I have never been here before. It all started when I brilliantly suggested that my cousins and I should play man hunt in the woods. My cousins, with no hesitation, said they would love to play manhunt. But they had warned me the woods were very confusing and even they had gotten lost in them. Being my arrogant self, I took that as a challenge. As soon as we started the game, I sprinted as far away from the house as far as possible. Rocks were scattered all over the ground as I raced throughout the woods. Falling over a log, my knees were now covered in dirt and mud- but what I hadn't realized at that time was that my phone had fallen out of my pocket, being buried beneath the fallen leaves. With a slight limp in my stride, I speed walked over to a cave. Moss was strung over the entrance, and parts of the rock had eroded from the weather. Climbing inside this mysterious place, I waited for my cousins to come and find me. Little did I know that I had wandered off into a completely different part of the woods. As time went on, my heart started pounding. Thoughts raced around my head, What if my cousins left me out here? What if they couldn't find me? What if I couldn't find my way back? Anxiety and fear prompted me to get up and start heading back to try and find my cousins. My eyes glanced around the unfamiliar trees, Which way did I come from? "How am I going to get back?" I reached for my pocket, trying to grab my phone, only to find it wasn't there. "Great, no phone and I have no idea where I am. Just great". Trudging through the piles of leaves and dirt, my throat started to close up. The sky was getting darker and darker and soon, it would be nighttime. My heart thudding out of my chest, sweat dripping down my forehead, the world spun around me as I fell to the ground.
- Write about weather outside -
Raindrops fell from the sky, the birds flying to shelter. The white and gray colors of the sky created a gloomy mood outside. The trees stood there bare, nothing to shield them from the coldness. Water rushed down the streets, the tires of the cars being splashed by the flooding. Soon enough, the fog would come and you wouldn't be able to see anything- it blinded everyone. No one would know what would be lurking in the fog.
- Imagine the world in the future-
The year was 2070- Earths population was only 80 million. A plague had struck the Earth 50 years ago, drastically decreasing the population. Everyone who lived agreed on one thing- no more polluting the Earth, after all, that was what prompted the plague. There were robots performing jobs, acting as servants, serving as pets- basically doing anything and everything. Earth was now clean of pollutants, and there was no more climate change. Amazing scientists had created a product that would maintain the Earths healthy state, and would preserve it for multiple centuries. Now a days, there was no more going to school and there was no more getting up early to go to work. Every single person stayed at home and were either home-schooled or were taught by their computers. This technology- based world is on a whole new level than anyone could have predicted. After all, the future holds lots of surprises.
