An Eventful Summer by Vincent Apostolico

This summer I played lots of golf with my family. Every day, I would either have practiced or played golf. I played well on some days but on others I would hit the golf ball everywhere on the golf course. I also took many golfing trips for either a tournament or just to go on vacation. For tournaments I played a lot of them here in New Jersey but I also went to Ohio and Connecticut for some. In Ohio it was a very eventful experience as I didn't play like I hoped to but I saw so many great sites. My Dad and I visited Ohio State University. The campus was just absolutely beautiful. It was so big with many huge buildings. I felt like I was in New York City turned into a college campus. I also visited the Ohio State football stadium which was very cool.  I saw the names of some football legends on the sides of the stadium and I saw the field where they play all of their football games. Ohio State was, by far the best college campus I've visited. In Connecticut, it was a whole different experience. It down poured in the middle of the golf tournament and it ended up getting canceled so basically my Dad and I drove for about 2 hours to Connecticut just to play in a golf tournament that got canceled. It wasn't a fun experience. My last golfing trip I took in the summer was for vacation in Naples,  where my family has a house.  My Dad and I played golf every day which was great fun. We both hit shots down the middle and put the golf ball close to the pin. We played pretty well and both looked like Tiger Woods out there. The weather, though, was very humid and I had so much sweat that all my clothes were soaking wet at the end of each golf round. Also, there were so many cool animals that I got to see down there like flamingos and alligators. It was a very fun trip and I can't wait to go back down next time.

One of the best moments of the summer was when I came in 3rd place in a golf tournament at Rutgers. It was a three round tournament and I shot scores of 80, 81, and 75. I played really well in the last round as I made four birdies including 3 in a row which was very cool to experience. I got a really nice trophy for coming in 3rd place which is now sitting high on a shelf in my room shining bright like gold. One of the toughest moments of the summer was seeing by brother Jimmy move into college. It was very emotional to see him leave because I have had so much fun with him my whole life and its hard to watch your best friend move. However, the good news is that he is attending a college in New Jersey so he can visit on weekends making it not as bad as I thought it would be. Another let down of the summer was the weather. It would either be very sunny with the temperature in the 100s  or it would be down pouring and flooding all of the golf courses so some days I couldn't play golf which really made me upset. Me being upset is not a pretty picture. Overall, the whole summer was very fun mostly because I got to enjoy so many cool adventures with my family. I probably wouldn't have changed anything about this summer except I would have liked to win more golf tournaments but that can wait for next summer. I look forward to summer in 2019 and playing a lot more golf with my family.
