Hello by Jordan Bucenec
hello,
i don't know if you can hear me,
but i've
been watching you for awhile.
not in a creepy way,
but
i like the way you speak
your accent prominent and longing
as if you wanted to travel back home.
you say you
enjoy America
its fast food restaurants and
people who walk around with expensive handbags
back at home you
never thought about having money like they do.
i like the way you focus
your eyebrows knit and
fists clenched
your dark hair has grown too long and you have to
brush it out of your face
you should probably renew your
glasses prescription
so you could stop squinting.
i like you laugh
it's woman-like
light
and airy
you laugh like no one's watching
well,
except me,
but you know that
i like your smile,
perfect
straight white teeth
and yet, you've never had braces
as if you were born
without imperfections.
i know you have flaws, though,
your ears that stick out,
your procrastination,
the acne scars
that linger on your cheeks,
your height
(i know it bothers you),
your broken english,
your forgetfulness,
the fact that you're almost too romantic,
and various other things.
but it's okay
because i'll keep watching
as long as you let me.
